‘No more Forbidden Love...' Valentines Day Action - February 14

Bookmark and Share

On February 14, Community Action Against Homophobia (CAAH) will hold an event at Taylor square to celebrate Valentines Day and show that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex (LGBTI) love should not be second class.

Valentines Day is a symbol of loving couples, loving relationships and dedicated partners, yet the day sidelines queer couples, especially so when Australia is the only country in the Western world to have banned same-sex marriage, and continues to deny the community equal marriage rights.

CAAH believe Equal Marriage Rights is a basic Human Right that should be available to all couples of all sexes and sexual orientation... and so, CAAH will be asking LGBTI couples to show us there should be

"No More Forbidden Love on Valentines Day"

Join us for a fun day of events... come along and celebrate your love, share your stories, and let everyone know your relationships are NOT second class. Tell Australia why Equal Marriage Rights are Human Rights!

The Valentines Day event is part of the National Year of Action for Equal Marriage Rights.

Rallying on Valentines Day is about reminding those who support equal rights for same sex couples and for those who are gender diverse, that we are still not equal in this country. But that our relationships are just as meaningful or valid to that of a heterosexual couple. As we approach Mardi Gras and the next mass action in Sydney on March 20th, Town Hall, 1pm, we invite you to come along to Taylor square and show your support on Valentines day.

Crave MCC Pastor Karl Hand will offer his blessing to couples on the day, participants can share their stories and have their portraits taken... and we will be joining our International Friends with a Kiss-In - an opportunity to truly share the love you have for your partner when you hear the whistle blow. CAAH invites all LGBTIQ couples to register their interest and participate in the National Year of Action for Equal Marriage Rights, and CAAHs campaign for 'Equal Marriage Rights'.

The Valentines Day event will held at Taylor Square Darlinghurst from 12pm - 2pm
