Sydney NDA • Same-Sex Marriage Rights • NOW!
On August 13, 2004, same-sex marriage was banned in Australia. This made Australia the only first world industrialised nation to have banned same-sex marriage.
Both the Liberal government and federal Labor governments passed the ban on same-sex marriage in 2004, and in 2006 went further by banning civil unions in the Australian Capital Territory.
As a result, homosexuals are considered second-class citizens in Australia. These federal laws discriminating on the basis of sexual preference are a disgrace.

http://www.365gay.com/news/battle-to-reverse-prop-8-begins
(San Francisco) LGBT groups have begun efforts to put a repeal of Proposition 8 on the 2010 ballot.
Prop 8, passed by voters in November, bars same-sex marriage in California. The constitutionality of the measure will be taken up by the state Supreme Court in 2009, but LGBT groups say they are taking no chances on how the court will rule and have begun making plans for a ballot measure that would reverse the ban. Legal Action Against 2UE
2UE APOLOGY - AN OPEN LETTER TO THE GLBT COMMUNITY
Read entire apology - SX - April 9. 2009
The NSW Administrative Decisions Tribunal found that Mr Laws' comments amounted to vilification in that they were capable of inciting severe ridicule of homosexual men. The NSW Anti-Discrimination Act sets limits on what can be said in public.
2UE has given its assurance to Community Action Against Homophobia (CAAH) that it will take every precaution to ensure that there is no repeat of this type of vilification in the future.
2UE Regrets any hurt that the queer community felt as a result of the broadcast, and any harm that these comments may have caused. It abhors and condemns any act of violence against people based on their sexuality and take seriously its responsibilities as a broadcaster in this regard.
